Categories of Sin (part 1*)

Sometimes, I feel like in the typical American church there are categories of sins. Some are ok to confess in community group, to ask for prayer in overcoming. Other people will admit to similar struggles, and they will maybe even pray for you consistently and help you be accountable. Things like spending money unwisely, or pride, or being judgmental. Cozy, comfortable, relate-able sins. "Small sins."

Then, there are other sins which you can never share. Things like hatred, addiction, sexual immorality, criminal activity. You would be considered a "real sinner" and would be referred to the pastor or maybe Christian counseling. These sins, you can only talk about in the past.  When God frees you from one of them, you then are considered to have an "awesome testimony" and people like you to talk about your past so they can feel better about their present. But until then you might be pretty lonely, because the average people in church don't want to walk with you out of bondage to "big sins".
