Parade

So, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series this year, and Kara and I went to the "rolling rally" to celebrate with the rest of the city.

It was a really unique experience, to see so many different people of various ages, income levels, and ethnic backgrounds all get together to cheer for the same thing.

Seeing the celebratory, almost worshipful attitude of the crowd made me think of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21). Tons of people were crazy excited to see their hero coming to town, and rightly so!

How often do I celebrate Jesus with the joy that Boston celebrates the Red Sox? Not just in church but in public?

"When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, 'Who is this?'"

It would be cool to substitute Boston for Jerusalem in that sentence, with the church displaying joy and living out Jesus' mission in a way that everyone can clearly see.
